Sampaonava
About This Spot
Stepping into Sampaonava is like discovering a serene pause beside the flowing river, where time slows just enough to soak in the gracious blend of modern subtlety and authentic Thai warmth. Nestled at the edge of the water in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, this restaurant invites you to unwind in a space that feels both sophisticated and intimately connected to its surroundings, with open-air seating that spills out toward calming river views and glimpses of ancient temples.
The atmosphere breathes a relaxed, gentle rhythm — a perfect backdrop for lingering conversations or quiet moments of reflection. The décor, thoughtfully balanced between sleek lines and natural touches, complements the gentle breeze and soft sounds of the river, creating a peaceful sanctuary away from the city’s pulse.
Here, the dining experience unfolds as a celebration of Thai culinary elegance, where familiar aromas of fresh herbs and spices mingle with the delicate hum of local life. Freshly grilled river prawns, vibrant stir-fries, and rich, soulful stews appear on the table not as mere dishes but as expressions of place and tradition. Each bite carries the subtle complexity of well-tended ingredients along with the warmth of a kitchen mindful of its roots.
It’s the kind of place where service flows naturally — attentive without intrusion, knowledgeable yet humble — inviting guests to explore daily specials or classic flavors with gentle guidance. Amid the generous portions and carefully curated flavors, you discover a deep respect for the local landscape and culinary heritage, offering a taste of Thai food that feels both authentic and nuanced.
Whether you arrive for a casual coffee, a riverside sunset meal, or a leisurely afternoon with friends, Sampaonava’s blend of modern grace and heartfelt tradition leaves an impression that stays long after the last bite.

Excellent food, nice people and a great view on the temple. They misunderstood our order at first, but fixed it afterwards. I would surely recommend this restaurant.

This place is beautiful ,modern fancy, warm, sophisticated at the edge of the river with beautiful open view. Not only is the food outstanding in quality but the service is brilliant. The seafood was so fresh .The platter portions are super generous. Authentic Thai food flavours with fresh aroma and herbs. Highly recommended.

I was driving around the city when my friend just randomly asked me to stop by this restaurant to grab coffee. What a peasant surprise, this one! Upon entrance, you will be greeted with very stylish decors and an upscale ambience. There is an outdoor seating by the riverside, which we went and stayed, that feels like a mini lush garden. It was very nice view! On the other side of the river is the Wat Phutthaisawan temple. We were the only ones seated outside during that time so we just soaked it all in. It was very nice and relaxing! Next time, I'd like to try some more of the food they offer while I get to enjoy the serene charm of Ayutthaya's riverside. How exciting!

Great authentic Thai food and atmosphere! Can also see a good view of Phra Prang. River prawn was great and fresh!

We had late lunch on Saturday at this river front restaurant, no reservation required. The service was great, the waitress recommended the dishes made from the ingradients of the day. We ordered from the recommended dishes in the menu, all of them are great, especially the chilli paste set. This place offers authentic royal Thai cuisine you cannot find easily in Bangkok. The open-air seats by the river look nice for dining, will try next time.

Sampaonava is a lovely restaurant by the Chao Phraya River in Ayutthaya — a perfect spot to enjoy delicious Thai food with a beautiful riverside view. The decoration and ambience are warm and relaxing, making it ideal for both family gatherings and casual meals. The dishes have a truly local Thai taste — flavorful, well-balanced, and clearly made with quality ingredients. I also love that the restaurant is pet-friendly, which makes it even more welcoming. The staff are attentive and full of hospitality, creating a great dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ayutthaya.

Superb atmosphere, great food with lots of variety and service! They offered super interesting menu , some items are hard to find nowadays. Their masmun curry, which was something I barely ate, was amazing here. Recommended dishes: Masman curry with crispy roti. Spicy Prawn and paco leaves salad. Palo [พะโล้] Service was effective and quick. Great atmosphere, I love the decorations.
